Conspiracy Theory on CD-R King
November 28, 2008CD-R King, Where you can buy the cheapest electronic accessories in the country. This store has made a huge amount of profit from its discounted items. But consequently, their queuing is so long. But what the heck? Filipinos would rather waste their time on waiting to spend less money.
But doesn’t anybody question why the heck it’s so slow in CD-R King? What I’ve noticed is that they still have to go to their stock room or at the back of the cashier, which is hidden from the customers, and they would record the products’ (the ones to be sold) serial codes manually. They write it down on a list so that they could keep track on what they sell. And I find it weird that they do their inventory monitoring manually, instead of automating it by, let’s say, using barcode scanners and the like. why do I find it weird, you might ask. It’s because after about a decade of selling too much electronic stuff, they should have enough funds to automate their inventory management and monitoring. Besides, it’s ironic if you’d sell high tech gadgets in such a low tech method.
Another reason why it takes so long to purchase a simple 5 peso disc is that they still put warranty stickers on the accessories that you’re purchasing, and yes, even when the packaging already has a “5-year warranty” printed on it. And I also find it weird because CD-R king does not grant you this 5-year warranty. They will give you (I’m not sure) 3 or 6 months warranty only, even if the packaging does have a “5-year warranty” printed on it. So this means that CD-R king gives you their personal warranty.
So why are their products so cheap? well, for one thing, the products that they sell are imported from taiwan or china. But based from the weird inventory monitoring procedure and personal warranty that they give, we can also think that they are selling smuggled goods. The manual inventory monitoring is a way for them to avoid the BIR and customs’ audit. If you may ask how, then let me describe it like this: When the BIR might have a speculation, they will have to check CD-R king’s inventory manually. There wouldn’t be any computerized data for them to check. they would have to do everything manually, which I think is very tideous. And on the personal warranty thing: they will not grant the ones printed on the packaging maybe for the purpose of hiding the stolen goods from the manufacturers.
But hey, this doesn’t supposedly mean that these are true. I haven’t enough facts to prove this. So it probably is false. And I still bet it is false. (Ironic of me posting this, huh?) But I would still like to suggest automating their sales point and putting the warranty stickers right after receiving the goods from their suppliers to avoid such long ques! I bet everyone agrees with that point. haha! I’m posting this because they have no customer feedback drop boxes. =))
Battle of the Bands! JammEng!
November 11, 2008Three days before the auditions, a friend of mine texted me and asked me to play the bass for his band. I said that it’s alright. But when I heard that we we’re going to play “Monkey on my back” by P.O.T., I panicked! I didn’t think I could do it. Haha! Anyway, we practiced until we got it right. It was so fun and it really was worth the half days and the late night practices! And it was the first time that I played in my school! Feels good!
Halloween
November 2, 2008I work in the 12th floor of our building. I’m a trainee. And for this halloween, my boss decided to take me with him in decorating the 12th floor for the halloween event to be held on October 30. We started working on October 27, way too early, i think. And we did these decorations all day until the morning of the 30th. But I was so worked up, I got sick. Damn! I didn’t even enjoy what we created because I went home before the kids showed up for trick or treating. My friends said that it was so fun. But.. AAAAWWWWHHH!!! It sucks that I couldn’t join them. Whatta Halloween! =(
